How to choose a printer

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 | Tips for good Live with

My office has changed their printer for many times from HP(Hewlett Packard) that’s use laser toner cartridges to Canon BJ 125. A view times ago I was asked to make some design of how to operate a printer effectively and economically. Then I use LAN (Local Area Network). Why? Because LAN can solve the problem easily if we know it well. To activate it, we just need a view meter of LAN cable and some RJ 45 socket, also a HUB as a terminal which is dividing the branch of the main LAN cable.

That is a flash about the LAN. By having that task, I am thinking about how to choose a good durable printer. Beside that, there’s another things to be considered if we don’t want to be regret in the future. Those things are:

  • Make sure the type of the printer. Generally there are three type of it, such as: Inkjet, Laser, and Multi Function.
  • Make sure the resolution of the printer by seeing the dpi (dot per inch). It will determine the refinement and the speed in printing.
  • The typical ways in printings (for a month) are :

- The total pages to be printed
- The document type are printed frequently
- The favorite ink color (black or color)
- Copy function
- Scanning
- Faxing
- Total fund for printing

  • Last but not least, don’t forget to compare the price from one store to another store.

I have two branded printer that’s Epson and canon. Those printers are number one in printing; the reason is because they have a good spare part support, where Epson ink cartridges and Canon ink cartridges easy to find in computer stores. To save the ink, I prefer to modify the cartridge to make it bigger so it can keep more ink. In my office the frequently of using printer is high, so it let me know the rest ink in the printer. Now my modification cartridge can be used also with my friend at the office. If you want to share with me, please visit my web and I would be glad if you leave a comment :) .
